No Mum, we weren't Digging Holes ....
Our Humble Beginnings......started with the inaugural meeting of the Wellington District German Shepherd Dog Club at Labour Hall, Beach Road, Petone, on Thursday the 27th of April 1950 at 7:30pm.

However by the first AGM, there were a few changes........
In those days, the Specialist Clubs were affiliated to Affiliated All-Breed Clubs; In our Club's case we were affiliated to the Wellington Kennel Club and were only able to hold Open Shows. It was only when Specialist Breed Clubs were able to become Associated Clubs that they were permitted to hold Championship Shows.
The Purpose of the Club
The purpose of the Club is to provide breed specific dog training and welfare services for German Shepherd Dogs that belong to club members and, if appropriate, to non members of the club.
The objectives of the club shall be:
To promote the well being of the German Shepherd Dogs in general
To encourage breeding of German Shepherd Dogs to recognised international standards, such standards to be adopted by the club
To hold recognised shows and meetings
To provide or assist in the provision of facilities to hold shows and meetings
To promote friendship and mutual support among dog owners and fanciers
To associate with the NZKC, abide by its rulings and support other clubs or organisations recognised by the NZKC
Zone of Influence
The clubs approved Zone of Influence shal;l be largely the Wellington Province plus those parts of the provinces of Taranaki and Hawkes Bay not served by any other NZKC approved district GSD Club.
